Yellow Dungarees

A man walks into a bar.
Hands in pockets, searching for change.
It’s late, very late. He finds some coins; spills them on the bar.
“Give me a double bourbon”
He is served.
Looking around the dim lit room sees a boy in yellow dungarees.
He is pointing a finger at him.
“Who you looking at kid?”
He wants to look away but can’t because some memory, something he forgot draws him back.
“Do you know me?”
“Oh yes I do”. Said the boy
“I am you”.
Slammed down his drink went into the street.
Fresh air hit him;
But the boy was still there,
Standing over the man.
Tell me what to do
As if he gave a care.
You are me,
We see this through
together.
